db3 (Diogo Baptista, b. 2002, Lisbon) works between small-scale sculpture, photography and digital editing. Rarely larger than ten centimetres, his figures are modelled from reclaimed materials — broken glass, used aluminium cans and foil, wood, paper clips, bones — then photographed under a single manipulated light, in tenebrism, against a black ground. The humanoid figure, masked, is not created but summoned into the conditions that allow it to exist, giving physical form to abstract concepts: hypostasis. The sculpture is ephemeral; the photograph is what remains.
