Into The Mist

This series was inspired by snowboarding in dense fog that erased everything from sight. Though my eyes were open, only the wind against me and the sounds of my board and passing riders told me I was moving. Surrounded by others yet moving alone, my senses sharpened as fear, loneliness, and calm mingled in an almost meditative state.

Fog marks the gap between looking and truly seeing: facing the world yet failing to perceive its essence. We all experience losing direction, uncertainty, loneliness, and anxiety. Through this work, I reconstruct moments when perception awakens and we encounter our essential selves.

In the studio, I recreate this obscured environment with fog, light, paint, and my body. Emerging between presence and absence, the body becomes a sensory trace in a scene both full and empty.
