I usually focus on landscape photography but this particular flower caught my eye. It's called a Bird of Paradise flower and I had never seen one before. My wife was given it as a gift so I had time to setup a makeshift studio to shoot it at home.

The finished image struck me with the colours and shapes that helped form an unusual subject. I love how some of the flower fades into the black background and how the petals look like flames. It just shows how nature creates such beauty.
