Trucks, trailers and tankers cross Nigeria every day. They carry goods, but they also carry words and pictures: blessings painted by hand, warnings, patterns cut in metal, colours someone chose on purpose. Each one says something about the person who owns it, and so about the rest of us. Vol. 1 was about coming home. Vol. 2 is about the journey, and the vehicles that make it.
I made this to record a part of our culture that is seemingly always fleeting. Documenting matters: what nobody writes down is slowly forgotten. But I also wanted to show something simpler: You can make art from what is already around you, from the road you drive or the street you live on. This collection is one example. I hope others will look at their own surroundings and make something from them.
