This series began as a chance encounter on Kogalla Beach, Sri Lanka, after noticing a quiet queue forming along the shoreline. The people were waiting for fishermen returning with their catch-fish sold directly from the sea, moments after being pulled from the water. The fishermen moved with ease and focus, unbothered by my presence as I walked among them with my camera. Shot in natural light, the images are purely observational: a record of labour, exchange, and rhythm. As they practiced their craft, I practiced mine-both unfolding side by side, without staging or interruption.
