I am drawn to the threshold between physical desire and imagined sensation, the space where the body’s impulse to reach intersects with the mind’s ability to conjure touch through sight. Working with a pinhole camera and a 4×5 large-format field camera, I construct miniature scenes driven by fundamental human impulses: to connect, possess, control, hold, drift, or break free. Though my subjects are drawn from the small and mundane, I explore how focused attention on the ubiquitous and the strange can allow an image to hold opposing qualities in tension.
