Mady (Madeline) Berry (b. 1994) is a London based multidisciplinary artist working primarily in watercolor. She returned to the medium after years, and hasn’t stopped painting since. She is drawn into the fine balance of control and chaos that is inherent to Watercolor. The unruly nature of the medium itself has ties to the tension between reality and escapism that is at the forefront of her practice. Her work is a mixture of emotional memory, symbolism, and architectural ornament. For Mady painting is a means to express and understand her emotions. Drawing often from the unconscious, the meaning of her pieces is only clear once the work is complete. Her bright and dreamlike paintings have a playful sincerity and draw on a multitude of themes.
