My work explores the intricate patterns and processes of nature. All elements of an ecosystem, both biotic and abiotic, are fundamentally composed of the same atomic material. This group of illustrations uses repeated collage forms, arranged to create scenes which are simultaneously familiar and visually surreal, to showcase the structural unity and complex beauty of the biological world.
Process notes: Each submitted piece is created using watercolor, ink, and collage elements reproduced from original watercolor illustrations. For example, in Amulet, the mushrooms are physically collaged onto the work, and the bright hummingbird feathers are collaged mushroom caps. Details from each piece are provided to highlight the collage aesthetic.
