Per aspera ad astra — Three paintings (2018)

Per aspera ad astra is a trilogy of original acrylic paintings created in 2018 by Ukrainian artist J.R.

The three works — Palata, Tribunal, and Monk — explore how different institutions interpret experiences that challenge established ideas of reality.

A psychiatric ward, a public tribunal, and a monastery represent three approaches to the unknown: illness, threat, and miracle.

The series is connected to an unfinished literary manuscript. Original preparatory sketches dated December 2017 demonstrate the development of the artistic concept.

All three works are original physical paintings, created entirely by hand.
