Structures That Refuse to Settle

Structures That Refuse to Settle brings together recent works exploring hypervigilance, control, repetition, and temporary stability. I build systems of frames, knots, supports, suspended elements, and organic materials that appear ordered but depend on continual adjustment. Actions such as tying, tightening, checking, balancing, and repositioning become attempts to prevent instability before it occurs. Materials including hog casing, rope, soil, saliva, and decaying organic matter stretch, dry, loosen, and transform over time. Rather than resolving into fixed forms, the works remain in ongoing negotiation between the desire for control and forces that cannot be fully contained. Their instability is not a moment of collapse, but an ongoing condition sustained through repeated maintenance and intervention.
