I'm Susan Hassmann, a freelance illustrator based in Germany, represented by Kombinatrotweiss in Frankfurt, Germany.
"Trip to Japan" is a series of personal works inspired by a journey to a place I had long dreamed of visiting. Rather than focusing on iconic images such as tori gates, temples or Mount Fuji, I was drawn to everyday scenes, small observations and quiet moments. I was particularly struck by how naturally art and visual culture are woven into daily life. The museum I visited were thoughtfully curated, with architecture often becoming part of the artistic experience itself. These impressions, together with the ordinary moments of the journey, became my personal visual memories of Japan.
