Villa Argentina Laundries

Studio Hug, in collaboration with artist Rachele Monti, presents a temporary installation for the former laundries of Villa Argentina in Mendrisio, Switzerland, located within the campus of the Academy of Architecture. Conceived for a late nineteenth-century building awaiting restoration, the project transforms the site's period of inactivity into an active visual intervention. Large-scale printed images are installed within the building's openings, engaging with the existing architecture without concealing it. By reinterpreting the façade as a narrative surface, the installation offers a new reading of the building while marking its transition toward restoration. www.studiohug.ch | IG @giacomohug @lhcrm | photos by Luca Piffaretti @lucap_photos
