Ashley Floréal is a Canadian illustrator of Black (Haitian-Canadian) descent living and working in Toronto.
Her illustrations are characterised by a collision of dark surrealist and saccharine, whimsical worlds, drawing from afrocentric imagery, esoteric and religious themes, counterculture aesthetics and suburban nostalgia. Whether personal exploration, editorial commentary, or entertainment homage, the work often seeks to mine dynamic visual narratives from the chaos that exists at the intersection of oppression, identity, personal history, grief, rage and mortality.
