Living and working in Berlin, Deuerling focuses his artistic practice on the human head — as a vessel of identity, emotion, and memory. The heads that emerge in his paintings are inner portraits: vulnerable and raw, both archaic and contemporary.
Despite maintaining a professional career, painting is not secondary to him — it is a necessity. His nocturnal painting rhythm is both ritualistic and essential: every few nights, he must paint — driven by an inner need, by psychological hygiene, by an existential bond with the image itself.
His works do not simply depict faces; they portray states of being, conditions, even landscapes of the soul. What remains is the moment of encounter — the silent exchange between image and viewer, between inner world and society.
