Eugene Laguten is a sculptor based near Sofia, Bulgaria, working primarily in bronze and brass. He studied sculpture at BGAI in Minsk and developed his practice in the studios of Stefan Nachkov and Stavri Kalinov. His work explores the impulse behind movement: the wild energy of horses, the tension between animal force and human composure, and the quiet harmony of two figures in a dance. He seeks the moment when a solid form seems ready to break into motion, leaving something unresolved for the viewer to return to. His sculptures have been exhibited in Bulgaria and internationally and are held in private collections across Europe, the United States, Israel and Australia. Selected exhibitions and a fuller biography are available at laguten.com. He is featured in the catalogue "100 Artists of Europe".
