Qianwen Yu is an independent animator and artist working between Chicago and Guilin. Through watercolor painting on fabric and hand-crafted animation, she reimagines traditional Chinese totems, folk motifs, and mythological narratives through a personal visual language. Her work brings together the tactile qualities of textile materials and the movement of animation, exploring how cultural imagery, folk stories, and traditional symbolism can be transformed into contemporary moving images. Her work has been exhibited internationally in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Czechia, and South Korea, including two solo exhibitions in Chicago in 2024. She was featured in the February 2025 issue of “Gateway”, the in-flight magazine of China Southern Airlines.
