Shani Ben Haim is an Israeli artist and designer based in Tokyo. Before moving into visual art and design, she worked as a contemporary dancer for 15 years. That physical background still finds its way into her work — through bodies, movement, gesture and the act of making itself.
Her practice moves between painting, drawing, mixed media and visual design. Working with bold color, imperfect lines and an intuitive approach, her work often sits somewhere between humor and vulnerability, naïveté and emotional depth. Her figures carry both playfulness and unease.
