My name is Tamás Todor. I am a painter from Cluj, currently living and working in Budapest. I graduated from the renowned Cluj School of Fine Arts, where I also earned my PhD. My artistic practice has long been shaped by dark surrealism and expressionism. During a study trip to Spain, I was profoundly influenced by Francisco Goya’s paintings, particularly his darker works, which opened up new perspectives on the relationship between beauty, darkness, and the human condition.
Since then, I have felt a persistent urge to explore the more unsettling aspects of existence — realities we may wish to turn away from, yet cannot deny. These are forces that have shaped our past, define our present, and will continue to influence our future.
