Ruotai Tang(b. 2002, Zhengzhou, China) is a New York–based artist. He received his BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2025 and was selected for the ChaNorth Residency in 2026.
Tang creates sculptural installations that explore spatial relationships, systems of reference, and everyday structures of judgment. Working with natural materials, found objects, and construction materials, he places familiar standards—such as verticality, measurement, and boundaries—into unstable contexts.
Through placing, measuring, transferring, and fixing, Tang examines how seemingly stable systems of order depend on specific conditions, and how they can be constructed, maintained, and destabilized.
