Illustrators Christina Mrozik and Zoe Keller have collaborated on a series of detailed graphite drawings, created over two seasons in a tiny studio in rural West Michigan. The illustrations will be collected and released this January in “Intricacies,” a hardcover, cloth-bound, offset-printed book. Advanced copies of the book can be reserved through their Kickstarter page here.

Kamea Hadar and Defer are collaborating on a series of work entitled “Paradise Lost”. The on-going project will see the two artists create murals and gallery shows together in several different cities. They have their first show opening on August 7th, in San Francisco, at 1AM Gallery. You can now fly on Hello Kitty Airlines! Taiwan-based EVA Air has launched three jets: The Apple Jet, The Magic Jet, and The Global Jet. I love how ridiculous this is!
There is a scene in Efterklang’s film “An Island” where the band performs with local people from a small town and although it is obvious that most of them are not musicians they are all playing instruments alongside the band. It is a beautiful scene (I admit I shed a tear the first time I watched it), and I was so inspired by it I began brainstorming ways that I could create a similar experience with bands here in Vancouver. I didn’t take the idea any further than my notepad.
Last week I discovered that some fellow Vancouverites have started doing this very thing! They call it Playground. The premise is simple: One band, one audience, one goal. Create a song together, and then record it in less than an hour.
