As part of our on-going partnership with STORYHIVE we’re excited to announce they are opening up submissions for filmmakers to apply for 1 of 30 x $50,000 grants! If you’re based in BC or Alberta and you have an idea for a documentary this could be a big opportunity. Submissions will be open from April 9th — May 7th, so start planning!
In addition to the funding, successful creators will receive customized career training, filmmaking mentorship and distribution of their projects on select TELUS platforms. This is a chance to make some content that matters to you and retain rights to your produced work.

IN CHINATOWN
We interviewed both director Stephanie Chong (read the interview) and cinematographer Jeremy Cox (read the interview) about their beautiful exploration of a rapidly changing neighbourhood seen through the eyes of various residents. Watch the film above.
The Day Don Died
We sat down with directors Sean Horlor and Steve Adams, aka Nootka Street (read the interview here), to find out more about their quirky experimental documentary exploring memory and how the news of one man’s death took on a life of its own in a community for retired entertainers. Watch the film above.
FINDING BIG COUNTRY
We spoke with director Kat Jayme (read the interview here) about her hunt for a controversial NBA star and her attempt to change the narrative around the forgotten franchise player’s legacy. Watch the film above.
