Parasol Mag #3
The third issue of Parasol Mag just came out and it’s the best issue yet! If you don’t already know it’s edited by Yasmine (aprintaday) and available for free download here.
Selector
Who says print is dead? For every mag headed for a tomb, there’s another one poppin’ out of a womb. I have professed my love for over-sized art publications and Selector can be added to the list. Issue #1 features many artists I’ve plugged before: Mario Hugo, Jody Rogac, John Copeland…
Annalemma
Annalemma is the latest magazine to magically appear on my doorstep. Actually “magazine” kind of gives you the wrong impression, it’s a literary publication filled with short stories, photographs, and other artwork. In short, it’s fantastic. The photos below may be a little misleading, Annalemma is filled with a lot more writing than what I’ve shown here. What I was thinking was, I’d show you some of the images first and then dedicate another whole post to one of the short stories for you to read! How does that sound?
Papergirl!
“Give away what you’ve got!” This video is so inspiring! Originally started by Aisha Ronniger, Papergirl is a project that has been going on since 2006. Paper art is distributed to unsuspecting people around Berlin via bicyclists. Artists submit work from all over the world (nothing digital), and the art is bundled up in groups of 10-15 pieces so each roll has a unique assortment of work. Just watch the video, it explains it way better! The deadline for submissions is June 17th.

Riitta Ikonen / It’s Nice That
I love Riitta Ikonen (her work is good too!), and was delighted to find the first installment of the It’s Nice That Talk series featured her! Marry me Riitta!
File Magazine / Issue #1
File Magazine is without question the coolest publication to show up on my doorstep thus far. I love large-format mags and this bi-annual publication outta the UK is roughly 12″ x 15.5″. The cover is a thick card stock and the inside pages are actually newsprint, but don’t come across cheap like you’d think. The page layouts are beautifully minimal – this thing is a real work of art. This first issue comes with a limited print by Geoff McFetridge and a DVD with over two hours of shorts films, music videos and interviews. In short, this magazine is legit!
The New Order / Issue #1
The inaugural issue of The New Order magically arrived at my doorstep, and it is an impressive debut. It is a quarterly art and fashion publication from the folks behind Slamxhype, and the highlight for me is the A2 sized fold-out Conor Harrington poster (and interview)! It is only a matter of time before this guy is everywhere. Other interviews include: Herbert Baglione, José Parla, Geoff McFetridge, and Mark Gonzales.
Ian Cox just just emailed to say he was the one who took the photo that was used for this poster, here’s his Flickr.
