Whew! What a year. It feels safe to say that 2020 didn’t go according to anyone’s plans. It’s been a bumpy and uncertain ride—easy for no one—and artists have certainly not been spared. At the end of each year we always spend a few days reflecting—we sort through everything we’ve published and select our favorite photos to showcase in one big feature. This year, as we look back, we are feeling immense gratitude for our creative community. Thanks for sharing your gifts and for continuing to show up, for each other and for us. Art has been a bright light in the midst of one heck of a dark year!
There’s a lot that could be said about 2020, but we’d prefer to remember it through photos. We’ve featured some incredible photographers this year, and paring down wasn’t easy, but we’ve narrowed our many features down to 75 photographs by 75 photographers. Whether taken this year or not, these are images that we have discovered over the last twelve months. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
If you’re new to our A Year in Photos series, you can browse our previous editions here: 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009. We’d also love to hear about your photography discoveries (on Booooooom or elsewhere)—which photographers or images stuck with you this year?
